Before Hale Pōmaika‘i Community Dialysis Center opened 16 years ago in Hāna, patients had to travel four-hours roundtrip to Central Maui three times a week for the life-saving treatments.

Fresenius Medical Care announced in its second quarter 2012 earnings report that it is acquiring Liberty Dialysis Holdings, Inc., the holding company for Liberty Dialysis and the owner of the two kidney dialysis clinic on Maui and one on Molokai.
