Five Maui Dental Hygiene students receive HDS Foundation scholarships

Five University of Hawaiʻi Maui College dental hygiene students each received a $3,000 HDS Foundation scholarship. They are: Supattramanee Payackapan of Kahului, Maui; Gabrielle Galano of Kahului, Maui; Amara Pederson of Kihei, Maui; Marie-Nicole Medrano of Wailuku, Maui; and Sabrina Carmen Pargad of Kahului, Maui.

UHMC “Sea of Smiles” Event Offers Free Dental Procedures to Island Keiki, Dec. 11

The first “Sea of Smiles” Dental Day takes place at the University of Hawaiʻi Maui College campus from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 11. At the event, island keiki under the age of 18 can receive free x-rays, dental exams, teeth cleaning, fillings and other dental services.

Tuition Sponsored Dental Assisting Course Offered at UHMC

Applicants are currently being sought for a Dental Assisting Certificate program being offered with full tuition sponsorship this summer by the University of Hawaiʻi Maui College’s Office of Extended Learning & Workforce Development.

Dental Assisting Training Offered to Native Hawaiians

Enrollment is now open for an entry-level Dental Assisting training program offered through the University of Hawaiʻi Maui College’s Office of Extended Learning & Workforce Development. The opportunity is sponsored by Hui No Ke Ola Pono in an effort to increase the capacity of Native Hawaiians working in healthcare.

UH Maui Baby Packet Program Recognized

The project began in 2009 and seeks to provide access to oral health information to every socio-economic group, and improve oral care by reducing Hawaii’s tooth decay rates.

Anonymous $100,000 to Maui Oral Health Center

An anonymous donation totaling $100,000 from a local foundation was issued to the Maui Oral Health Center for the acquisition of new dental chairs at the decade-old facility.
