Kahului Airport conducts Mass Casualty Emergency Response Exercise Today

The state Department of Transportation, Airports Division on Maui, will conduct a mass casualty emergency response exercise at the Kahului Airport today.  The exercise begins at 11:30 a.m. and will simulate an active gunman scenario.

The exercise is designed to test emergency procedures and communications by first responders including the Maui Police and Fire Departments, Securitas, the Transportation Security Administration, Hawaii Disaster Medical Assistance Team, Maui County Civil Defense, the American Red Cross, Maui Memorial Medical Center, as well as local airlines and airport vendors.

All flight schedules and airport operations will continue as normal during the exercise.  Air travelers and motorists are asked to be aware of additional emergency vehicles and security personnel staging around the airport.  Signs will be posted to notify the public of the exercise.
