Spectators for the inaugural Hawai‘i High School Athletic Association Surfing State Championships (HHSAA) will only be allowed to access Ho’okipa Beach Park via free HHSAA event shuttles from the parking lot off Holomua Road on Friday and Saturday, the County of Maui Department of Parks and Recreation announced.

The Hawaiʻi State Junior Golf Association | First Tee – Hawaiʻi (HSJGA|FTH) conducted the Maui Spring Classic as well as the 12 and Under Uswing Mojing Junior World Qualifier at Wailea Blue Golf Course this weekend April 25-26.

Organizers of the Maui Marathon have announced that the race’s start and finish line has been relocated to the mauka lane of Kāʻanapali Parkway, directly across from Whalers Village, to accommodate ongoing construction on a nearby water system.

The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation notifies highway users that runners will be on a portion of Honoapiʻilani Highway (Route 30) for the Maui Marathon on Sunday, April 26.

The Hawaiʻi State Junior Golf Association (HSJGA) will conduct the Maui Spring Classic + 12U Junior World Qualifier on April 25-26, 2026 at Wailea Blue Golf Course. This will be a 36-hole stroke play event contested over two days. 

The Maui Sea Cadets have earned the No Ka Oi Highway Hui Award from the State of Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation, Highways Maui District, for their ongoing service to Maui’s Adopt-A-Highway Program.

The 56th annual Maui Marathon is set to welcome its largest field of participants to date on Sunday when runners and walkers alike will tackle the course from the Outrigger Kāʻanapali Beach Resort to Papalaua Wayside Park and back.

The PGA TOUR will not play The Sentry or the Sony Open in Hawaiʻi in 2027, according to reports today from the PGA. This marks the first time in 56 years that there will be a PGA TOUR tournament absence in the islands, following steady presence since the Sony Open started play at the Waialae Country Club in Honolulu in 1971.

Elite distance runner Jordan Hogan, one of the most accomplished American marathoners of the past decade, will take part in the 56th annual Maui Marathon race weekend, including community meet-and-greet opportunities and competition in the half marathon.

Access to the County of Maui’s Hoʻokipa Beach Park facilities will be restricted to competition use only from 5 p.m. Thursday, April 30, through 5 p.m. Saturday, May 2, 2026, to host the inaugural Hawaiʻi High School Athletic Association Surfing State Championships (HHSAA), the County Department of Parks and Recreation announced. The park will reopen for regular public access at 5 p.m. on May 2.

Sloane Jucker, of Maui Prep,  defended her Maui Interscholastic League shortboard title, while Chase Burnes defeated a couple of former MIL champions to win his first boy’s shortboard crown, at the MIL Surf Championship Saturday at Hoʻokipa Beach Park.

Due to recent inclement weather, aeration of the greens at Waiehu Municipal Golf Course has been delayed one week, according to the County of Maui Department of Parks and Recreation. The work will be done weather permitting. Golfing areas will be adjusted from April 20 to 23, 2026, while the greens are aerated.

Maui United Way aims to tee up community support at its upcoming Golf Tournament set for Saturday, May 2. All proceeds from the tournament will support Maui United Way’s programs including disaster recovery efforts, youth services, and community resilience programs.

Golfing areas will be adjusted from April 13-16, 2026, while Waiehu Municipal Golf Course greens are aerated, according to the County of Maui Department of Parks and Recreation. The work is weather permitting.

The inaugural season will culminate in the state championship, scheduled for May 1-2 at Hoʻokipa Beach Park on Maui’s north shore. A total of 174 student-athletes will qualify for the championship meet, representing the top surfers from across the islands.

More than 800 Maui fans were treated to a rare chance to see NCAA Division II women’s volleyball on Saturday at the Jon Garcia Gym on the Baldwin High School campus. The event was sponsored by Hawaiian Style Volleyball Club.

Mana O Maui is now accepting scholarship applications from girls between the ages of 13-17 to attend  an upcoming Teen Surf Camp, hosted by Maui Surfer Girls, from June 27 to July 3, 2026. Mana O Maui is a nonprofit organization launched in 2023  to provide empowerment programs through Hawaiian cultural education,  adventure education, surf therapy and the healing arts.

Hawaiian Style Volleyball Club will sponsor three spring NCAA Division II women’s volleyball matches at the Jon Garcia Gymnasium on the Baldwin High School campus on Saturday.

Zolten Poulsen paced Maui Prep to their third straight boy’s win, while Maui Christian won the girl’s title behind Lila Sloan at the third Maui Interscholastic League surf contest, Saturday at Kokī Beach in Hāna.
