For Father’s Day: Four Fathers, Four Sons

Father’s day is fast approaching and weekend events are vying for dad’s attention. Why not give him something nice and take him to the Four Fathers, Four Son’s slack key concert at the MACC?

On June 18, the McCoy Theatre at the Maui Arts and Cultural Center will present four very musical families with: Dennis & David Kamakahi, George & Keoki Kahumoku, Kevin & Ikaika Brown and Richard & Kai Ho‘opi‘i.

The night will begin with sweet father and son playtime on stage, as each family entertains with their signatures styles in slack key guitar, falsetto, ukulele, and melodic harmonies.

Then the night will turn into an inevitable competition, as fathers and sons have a play off for audience applause and popularity. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. and tickets will are $25. VIP tickets are $45 and include a talk-story session with the musical men.

Go hungry and feed the man of the day, with food from Alexander’s Famous Fish, from 5:30 p.m. On the menu: local style tako poke for $5, Miso Mahi plate with hapa (mix of brown and white) rice and salad with mango salsa for $10, and Azeka style Kalbi ribs with hapa rice and salad with mango salsa for $10. Got a craving for sweet? Don’t forget to splurge on some cookies, mango cobbler, and pie for $2 to $5.
