(Posted: 2:03 p.m. 5/24/12; Update 2:50 p.m. 5/24/12)

Maui Police issued an update this afternoon saying they recovered firearms, as well as other items from a vehicle involved in Tuesday’s fatal shooting incident at the parking lot of the Mana Kai Resort.

A search warrant of the stolen rental vehicle was executed by Maui Police at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 23, 2012.  The vehicle was operated by Marshall Langford, 31, of Wailuku. Langford suffered fatal injuries in the incident and died at the scene.

Police say that in addition to firearms, they also recovered a clear glass smoking pipe and other additional items from within the vehicle.

Lorden K. Cooper

A second person involved in the incident, identified as Lorden K. Cooper, 28, of Wailuku, was placed under arrest at 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday, May 23, 2012. Police say Cooper was arrested as a result of the investigation and the search conducted.  He was arrested for the following: felon in possession of a firearm, place to keep a firearm, registration mandatory, permit to acquire, and unauthorized control of a propelled motor vehicle.

According to Hawai’i criminal justice records, Cooper has a total of 15 charges on record including two separate felony counts for the unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle in 2004 and 2006 respectively. Certified records show that Cooper is also known in the data system as Keanu Ah Sau.

Other convictions on record against Cooper include fourth degree theft, resisting orders to stop, as well as various driving misdemeanor and petty misdemeanor offenses.

The incident was reported at around 11:20 a.m. on Tuesday, May 22, when officers had responded to a report of a stolen vehicle parked at the location.

When officers arrived, authorities say they found Langford in the vehicle. Police say the suspect attempted to flee the scene, and while doing so, allegedly pulled out a handgun and pointed it at an officer. The officer responded, police say, by firing his weapon.

Family members have defended Langford in media reports.

The investigation is ongoing.  Maui police say more cases involving the stolen rental vehicle, the responsible(s) Langford and Cooper, and other responsible(s) are being investigated.

Langford had not just 1 firearms but firearms!! Well done MPD!

    • queen B

there was no gun, they planted that shit!!

    • Sorryforyourloss

This is nothing but a tragedy for our community. It’s a tragedy for the family, the officer that shot him and anyone who lives on this Island. I’m sure the MPD isn’t going around High Fiving each other either. The majority of cops have seen the problems in this community, caused by the drugs. If anything the anger should be directed toward the drug dealers and the drug problem that is ruining lives and turning our community into a cesspool. It’s sad this happened. I feel truly bad for the family. Even the best of families have children who do stupid things. I believe them that Moki had a good heart despite his problems.

    • No Can

I’m sure everyone has seen the pictures of the two guns they found in the car by now. That pellet gun sure as hell looks like a Glock to me, can’t fault the officer for thinking it was real.

As for the people who keep saying the evidence was planted, cops corrupt, he had no gun it was his cell, c’mon already. Enough. Your loved one was killed because he pulled a gun on an officer. It’s tragic but MPD is not to blame, they were just doing their jobs. I’m sure they wish they could have taken this guy alive but he gave them no other choice. I hope you all find some peace with this one day, God bless.

    Lies… str8 LIES

    • Keeperofdapipe

Go buy (in your case, steal) yourself a life!!!

  • usoskeeper

2 days later they finally recover “firearms?”  if Langford pointed the gun at the officers then why wasnt the gun recovered then? this is just an example of good ole evidence planting. I hope someone investigates the investigators. crooked ass cops

    • Anonymous

As I stated and predicted what you would say when they recovered the guns in my other post “Da Crooked Cops Wen Plant Da Gun!!!” Haha! You Simpletons are so predictable.

      • Josiah

Then when the video from Mana Kai shows him point the gun at the cop, they gonna say,”Da crooked cops wen plant da video”.

        • Anonymous

Then when the witnesses cooborates what happened, they gonna say “Paid Actors!!!”

        • April

Eh dummy! You da person who said you was standing 20 feet away and you didn’t see him pull a gun. Now you change your story cuz everybody told you to shut up and they shut you down. You just like the guy who set this whole thing up!! Say one thing n when you not getting the right kind of attention you change your story!! Sad! Pitiful! Weak! Shame! You cant even represent yourself properly! Those cops probably did plant those gun, everybody know once you have probable cause to search a vehicle you don’t need a warrant! And being that the vehicle was stolen, id say that that was probable cause.

          • Anonymous

WHAT?!!! Where exactly did you get your law degree? Are you serious, our just pulling $h!£ out of your a$$?

          • Josiah

Ummm, actually, I never said I was there. Better go check your facts. Secondly, you need more then probable cause to search a vehicle. You need probable cause to get  a search warrant, and a search warrant to search a vehicle. There are exceptions, and honestly, I feel this case was an exception. But because our criminal justice system is so liberal, it looks like the cops went ahead and got the warrant, so there would be no question about the evidence found if and when the case goes to court. In short, the cops were just playing it safe.

        • April

Yeah Josiah that was for you! Fake as they come. So fake you don’t even know what being real is! Figure it outnumber try it sometime!

          • Josiah

You have a lot of nerve telling me to “figure it outnumber try it sometime”. Just who do you think you are?

    • Miguel

Thy found the guns yesterday, when they did the investigation, after a judge signed the warrant to search the vehicle (since it was either suspects’ property). Just bc they release the information “2 days later” doesn’t mean that they attained the info “2 days later”

    • Bytch96792

      Is dis marcus

    • kapena

No gun yet turned into get. Two actually.

  • Cheehoo

you live by the gun you die by the gun

      • JUSTWONDERING

          Magic Crystal Ball.

      • Nightfighter777

He had such love and  overwhelming concern for his child, family and fellow maui that he decided to rip off a car while under the influence of batu while carrying a gun ? i live in maui , i have kids here and thank god the police stopped him before he did more damage. mahalo~ GOOD JOB MPD !!

        • Happyvalley1980

Good job MPD??? Fucking crooked ass cops…. Trigger happy shits…. No need to kill someone… Everyone makes mistakes doesn’t mean you don’t love and have concern for someone…watch ur mouth asshole

      • Bemyguest

And you just happen to be a detective at the scene??? who the hell would you EVER know the gun was in the trunk… ah right, you probably witnessed the whole incident…

      • kapena

I guess you didn’t read the part that the shotgun was within reach.

      • Gern Blanston

Read the article.  The illegal unregistered sawed off shotgun was found on the front seat of the stolen car, within easy reach of BOTH of the  33-time loser violent career drug felon convicts.

Mos didn’t care one bit about family, friends, or his off-spring.  He was doing what he TRULY cared about.

    • Gern Blanston

      I concur, Mr. Hoo.

  • Nightfighter777

Corrupt ? Still the most non violent place i know of. Go to LA, SF, NY or any other major big city. Those citys individually have more crime than the entire state of Hawaii.   the guy was a meth head. Meth heads are the most dangerous unpredictable individuals on the street when they are under the influence.  People doubt he had a gun…wise up. I know people who know the guy and regardless of what mom and dad thinks of thier precious boy..the reality is he was a meth head who was capable of such actions. I feel bad for the family. Admitting some thing to ourselves must be hard.

  • usoskeeper

on a previous article a maui resident typed something that I read that made sense to me. I do not live in Hawaii. I live in a small town in Washington State. and our little police department has had it great and BAD times.  I will repost what a Maui Resident wrote. I still think this is B.S. but thats my take on it.

  • usoskeeper

HERE IS WHAT A MAUI RESIDENT POSTED.
I also find it interesting that the Maui police didn’t recover a gun. It would follow that, in the presence of a lethal weapon, the FIRST thing the officer team would do would be to ensure that they were out of danger: take down the suspect and get the gun.  If Langford had  brandished a weapon, then was fired upon and killed, wouldn’t the gun be in his grasp? Fallen down on the floor board, or easily within the sight in the glove compartment, in the seat, or on the floor? How could he have hidden the weapon if he got shot in the head a few seconds after he brandished it? These are things that make me wonder if we’re hearing the whole story. So the rental car is now a “no touch” zone until a search warrant is processed? I’m not an armchair CSI, but you’d figure that since the crime (pulling a gun on anyone, especially an officer) took place inside the vehicle, they’d have every right to enter and retrieve whatever evidence necessary. (Add to that it was a stolen vehicle.)  Once a felony pursuit is in play, the police then have the right to enter anywhere the suspect is. What need for a warrant? It is recovered stolen property. It is the crime scene. I hope they just don’t “find” an unregistered weapon with no prints tomorrow.  I do hope the MPD has  iron clad evidence for my own sanity. Frankly, I’m a bit scared. I know Langford was doing bad stuff, but if the MPD is not held to legal standards, we’re all in trouble. The motive for my comments has nothing to do with this man. I don’t know him or any of his family. My comments have everything to do with protecting the civil rights of the citizens of this island. Lots of eyes will be upon the MPD, the Mayor’s office, and how the press reveals information to the pubic.  As a concerned citizen of Maui County for over 25 years, I would like to see the video tapes from the multiple police cruisers to prove everything they are saying lines up. If for no other reason to exonerate themselves. They WERE running video tape, right?  That is standard procedure. Right? Here on the island, we’ve had a Maui police Lieutenant who retired after 20 years get convicted less than a year after his retirement for selling drugs.  And who hasn’t heard about threats of violence and beatings in the cane fields?  How about the young Maui Officer Won  convicted of  second degree extortion in 2005 and sentenced to five years for soliciting sex with  a woman to avoid tickets?  To say that MPD is above reproach would completely naive. This terrible tragedy may not have been intentional. This may have been a big, unanticipated fiasco as a result of overzealous hiring practices, poor training, and perhaps improper techniques when approaching a felon in the field. It’s going to be a hell of a time watching this while the story unfolds. What can you do to help? Comment! Write to the press. Write letters to the Mayor’s office demanding full disclosure of the facts. Ask for the video. Insist that it be proved, one way or another, that Langford’s civil rights were respected, that there was no other choice other than to kill him. Perhaps the only way for him to have not died in vain would be for this tragedy to spark courage in the people of Maui to stand up and make MPD accountable for their actions.FlagFlag

    • Bemyguest

You apparently live in jupiter or watch CSI, COPS, or RENO 911. Regular MPD cars HAVE NO CAMERAS. Then you claim to protect the civil rights of the people of this Island. The only one protecting ANY TYPE OF RIGHTS in this case, is the brave Officer who stood his ground for his own safety, and for the safety of us all (including you). Then the search warrant, you try to sound like a lawyer, but the fact is that you sound like a mama’s boy who is going to college just to get laid, and pays no attention to how the “JUDICIAL SYSTEM” works.

It is easy to “MONDAY MORNING QUARTER BACK” this, but the bottom line is, you WILL NEVER KNOW what the Officer HAD TO GO THROUGH at that moment (unless of course, that you were ever held a gun point).

Then you talk about cane field beating… what the hell are you talking about, trying to divert the focus from the incident to something you cant even prove.

The bottom line here is THAT “MOSI” WAS AN ICE HEAD, A FELON, A CRIMINAL, A SCRUB (OR WHATEVER YOU WANNA CALL IT) AND BROUGHT DEATH UPON HIMSELF. If it would have been the other way around, where either the Officer got shot, or an innocent bystander, and “Mosi” would have survived and escaped, you most likely be talking cr@p about the “WELL KNOWN CRIMINAL” instead of the Department who put their lives on the line five days a week, so you can go home every night safe to your family. Stop pointing fingers at the few you have to do the dirty job that no one else dares to do.

MPD, YOU ROCK, YOU JUST SHOWED US ALL THAT THE GOOD GUYS “ALWAYS” WIN, AND THE BAD GUYS “ALWAYS” LOOSE… Hope all the criminals see what happened and crap their pants, knowing that they are not as invincible as they think they are!!!!
AND BY THE WAY… IF YOU DONT EVEN LIVE ON MAUI, AND ARE NOT AWARE OF WHAT HAPPENED, MAYBE YOU SHOULD STICK TO READING THE HEADLINES INSTEAD OF COMMENTING.

      • Namii09

Maybe you should shut your mouth if you dont even know who he is! Why they never retrieve the gun right away but they found it two days later? Wtf seriously dont talk like you know. Oh yah and not to metion the next day they arrested a police officer for sexually assualting a 15 year old! Way to go MPD! Dont worry God knows and justice will be served. Sorry Mos i know you wouldnt want all this negativity but if any of you have a heart instead of saying good for him you can be saying your condolences to his family. Everyone makes mistakes but he didnt deserve to lose his life.Rest in peace Mos we love you!

        • MARCUSBOY

           he still a criminal…

        • Anonymous

We get one pretty good idea.

        • Nightfighter777

so you’re saying all cops are bad ? One cop allegedly sexually assaulted a minor , so that MUST mean the Officer on site of the shooting who made a decision to not only protect himself but those round him is bad as well ? Why not try and admit that maybe Mos is the reason why mos is dead. FACT; if mos didnt take part in the theft of a vehicle or smoke batu or have a gun he would be alive right now…that’s an undeniable fact.

          • http://profile.yahoo.com/CLVJPAHHSHQUUNI6NWDXTODZ6Y Myra

Wanna test your user name to see if thats all your about ? Cause you seem so tough on the internet but what about in person ?

          • Val_loves_chris

We are not saying that all cops are because i have family in the police department. But when you take and OATH to PROTECT && SERVE THE COMMUNITY you better start second guessing on who you hired. It makes all of Maui look bad just as much as you think Mosi makes us look bad. So dont get TWISTED. lOVE YOU MOSI TO THE LANGFORD && KEKAHUNA FAMILY WE LOVE YOU GUYS. I can go on && on && on but some people just dont get it.!!! Figure it out

        • Boobunny

Bottom line is ask yourself why they were there-YOU obviously don’t know the truth! Good heart or not he another thug that decided to act gangsta. Come on look at the true facts- his own mom said he’s a good boy, last time I checked , god boys don’t do drugs and carry weapons, have a criminal record and she stated if he didn’t come home his girlfriend (wife) would go and look for him and bring him food. I’m sorry but, he was there to kill someone he owed money to and that person was the one who called the cops because he was scared for his life. Mosi took off from the cops and the mother said he didn’t run- please look at the photos he ran into a parked vehicle because he ran. This is Maui-coconut wireless flies fast. One wrong decision could effect the rest of your life and unfortunately this young man mad e a very poor decision that you or anybody else had control of. I myself. Thank god nobody else got hurt and he’s off the street! I’m sure this isn’t over cause Cooper and Mosi’s younger brother are still very much a live and they have a score to settle. Have u looked at Marcus Langfords FB page- that says it all right there!

          • Gern Blanston

            Amen, Boobunny.

          • Val_loves_chris

What does Marcus’s name mean by you.. So quick to JUDGE but so LITTLE YOU KNOW!! SAD! LOVE THE LANGFORD && KEKAHUNA FAMILIA

      • usoskeeper

yeah I dont live on maui… but that long comment was from a guy who does live on Maui.  dont ignore the fact the your police department has a few corrupt officers. cane beatings? i have no idea ur right and I thank God that I never experienced a cane beating. where I do live though, they have corrupt officers every police department has it. it takes a tragedy to weed them out.
to you be my guest…. Pray you never have to suffer the loss this family has.

      • makaimomma

Guess what?  The Mana Kai just installed security cameras last week!  They are recorded.  I am sure they will be used as evidence.  My understanding was that guests have given statements stating they actually saw the Mr. Langford pull a weapon.  I guess that kind of dispells the theory that he didn’t point it or that it was in the trunk.  Even good sons do bad things when under the influence of bad drugs.

      • SoljahGirl

If you dont know mos you have no right to judge him.

        • Bemyguest

I ACTUALLY MET HIM IN THE PAST…COMPLETE FAILURE OF A HUMAN BEING.

        • Gern Blanston

Do you have to touch a chunk of poop on the ground to know that it’s not something that you want to spend a lot of time with?

      • http://profile.yahoo.com/CLVJPAHHSHQUUNI6NWDXTODZ6Y Myra

Maybe you should stop worrying about someone that isnt important to you cause you’re obviously watsing your time. Cause no one here cares about what you think. Living on Maui or not, were you at the scene ? NO ! So wouldnt know either. You dont have to live in Maui to know. It’s common sense you idiot. Yea the people you “think” are the reason we get home safe can also be the people that manipulize us. Cause they wear a badge they think they can do anything. Dont act like all the cops in Maui oor in this corrupted place we live in called earth are all “Good cops”. Wise up.

      • Bongie143

yes mosi may have been alot of things, maybe all the names in the book…and then some… but no matter what he was, he was still a human being! Only GOD can judge us…

        • Gern Blanston

That’s why Mos got sent to Hell.

    • Miguel

If the evidence that could exonerate the cops is the same evidence that can prosecute the 2nd suspect, then it won’t be released (to public) until his trial, not via news reports

  • DEZ

In one article it states that they needed a warrant to search. IN THE MAUI NEWS IT STATED THAT THEY SEARCHED THE VEHICLE NOW THEY ARE SAYING A DAY LATER THEY SEARCHED N FOUND GUNS? ACKWARD?

  • Mauigyrl

    It doesn’t add up..

  • usoskeeper

cops are human… and humans make a mistake. and I believe they made a fatal mistake this time. I am a law abiding citizen and pay taxes too. I see it on the news more frequently now more then ever.  Police officers abusing their power, and maybe it was just a straight mistake. planting evidence only enables more police to be corrupt. I hope this gets looked into.

Welcome to Maui, where the criminals are heroes, and the police are villains. It reminds of the treatment given to combat veterans returning from Vietnam. Go ahead, spit in their faces. I feel shame that people from elsewhere in the world read this nonsense and think this is how the people of Maui think. Why don’t we try laying off the pipe people. Grow up, take responsibility for your actions. Quit making excuses, we’ve heard them all. Move on, go to school, get a job, make something of your life. Enough already.

  • DB Cooper

I’d have a lot more respect for the family if they told Marcus to turn himself in.  He knows far too much about exactly why and what his brother was doing at the Mana Kai…. see Maui News story this morning.  Claims he heard the gun shots when his brother called him but can’t prove it with his cell phone records.  Or was it a voice mail, did he save it?  Sure buddy, turn yourself in.

I assume when we finally see the one of the weapons recovered it will be the sawed off shotgun Marcus was posing with on facebook.  A fairly unique weapon you couldn’t easily plant.    Interesting that the pic is now gone from facebook.   Guilty?

Come on family, it you are truely a God fearing family you are committing sin with each passing moment you defend you darling son Marcus.  God doesn’t take to kindly to liars right?

There was no gun, don’t care what any of u with negativity say. Planting evidence is what they do best(MPD). For the ones that cheer on MPD for shooting someone that’s unarmed shame on u. So I guess u approve of officers molesting children, that is “SICK”……..
    JUST SAYING

    • Nightfighter777

I approve of the cops taking yet another known batu head off the streets..and what does that have to do with a cop molesting children ? two different cases. Fing kids steal things, smoke batu and i’m supposed to help clean up thier wreckage through my tax dollars ? Not the first time these jokers have had run ins ya ? You must be a criminal then to defend criminal behavior. No need respond..we know. mahalo~

      • http://profile.yahoo.com/CLVJPAHHSHQUUNI6NWDXTODZ6Y Myra

Um Id rather have crackheads on the street rather than have  Cops who have authority to do almost anything molest children. I dont care if it’s two different cases. My Uncle is now passed and is living eternal in heaven. While that cop is living his whole life full of guilt so if you ask me Uncle Marshall is living life to the fullest (: Oh and be a criminal ? You would know huh?

    • Xnxx

oh yes because every single police officer is a child molester and you were standing 5 feet away when the thug got shot so YOU KNOW for a fact there was no gun. i guess if i tried to run your ignorant a$$ over with my car i wouldnt be charged with attempted murder??????? is that your logic BUDDY

  • DB Cooper

Imma go out on a limb and assume people think the more you say “no gun” the more you think people will believe it?  Truth is not related to how many people believe something.

If I were a lawyer I’d tell the entire Langford family to spend all day commenting anonymously claiming there was no gun to pollute the potential jury pool.

Get real liars.  None us know if there was a gun or not.   Some of us know those boys were drug users and theives and know they had guns in the past and used them in the past.   What we don’t know for certain is if it was used at Mana Kai.   How would we?  Especially how would Marcus know what happened at Mana Kai?   And where is Marcus’s illegal and unregistered 9mm and sawed off shotgun at right now?

I assume the “guns were planted” campaign to begin shortly.

    • Mauiboy

if they found the guns where was it  not in his hands you dump trucks so you can say wat u like about the guy the cop was still wrong cause it was no where in site  i dont see you talking about the a!!wipe that sexually asaulted some 15 yr old girl and who knows how many more during the 18yrs hes been on the force

Who was investigated by the corrupt MPD and arested by the corrupt MPD. I supppose the crooked cops planted evidence on the officer or coerced the child to make a false statement in this case as well.

      • Nightfighter777

two different cases ya fricken genius, of course the officer who sexually assaulted the minor should be given a trial so as to review all the facts and after doing so if 12 jurors find him guilty, then he faces the consequences. That’s how it works. Please go back to school. mahalo`

    • MARCUSBOY

MARCUS GOIN GO DOWN TOO!!! CHEEEHOOOOO HE GOT IT COMING, ANOTHER TWEEKER CRIMINAL TOO.. HE GOTTA TURN HIMSELF IN FOR ALL THE CRIMES HE COMMITTED AN GO PRISON WHERE HE CAN SMOKE A DIFFERENT KINE PIPE =)

    • usoskeeper

DB Cooper, what does Marcus Facebook pictures have to do with this incident? unless the pictures were taking in the vehicle right before the incident then it doesn’t hold weight at all. the fact is they took 2 days to recover something that was already out in the open… right? yeah I dont get it. if he had it in his hand when they shot him in the head then WHY did it take so long to recover it? a warrant?  doesnt this probable cause allow them to take the gun if its in plain sight? Idk… it doesnt sound right

      • Miguel

If the police found guns and if those guns match any guns on Facebook pictures, then those guns matter a lot…. but a lot of Ifs and none of us know the answers…

They didn’t take 2 days to recover the guns, they took 2 days to release that info… and, yes, when stolen property is involved (and police don’t need to enter the vehicle to determine the owner, etc) then there’s a bunch of legalities than simply probable cause… but I agree, the story does take a few twists…

Hoping full disclosure from MPD, but considering the impending trial for the 2nd suspect, we won’t hear most of it until his trial…

  • Gern Blanston

Mos was a wart on the okole of society, and he got righteously popped.

  • Gern Blanston

God bless this officer, who went into harm’s way to protect us from a pair of 33-time loser convicted felons, hopped up on ice and trying to murder innocent police officers with a stolen car.  I am thankful that this officer was able to go home safely, to his loving family.

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/CLVJPAHHSHQUUNI6NWDXTODZ6Y Myra

&’ Im thankful My Uncle is in a better place (: Thanks for being a douche bag !!!(:

      • Gern Blanston

I’m thankful that the police officer made Maui a better place.

By the way, Myra, why would you think that Hell is a better place than Maui?

  • Gern Blanston

It would appear that Mos encountered the ultimate risk within his chosen profession.

    • Anonymous

I better report this to O.S.H.A. LOL!

  • Gern Blanston

Mos made a lifestyle of poor choices, that brought dishonor to himself, his family, and his culture.

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/CLVJPAHHSHQUUNI6NWDXTODZ6Y Myra

And you care why ???? Im dying to know why it’s soooooooooooooo important to you guys that you live your life on this page going back and forth on your opinions. Real talk. No one cares of what people like you think. My Uncle Marshall is in Heaven, living eternal life. Living life without people like you. Stress free and all. Please, do something with your life.

    • usoskeeper

what culture are you talking about? His Samoan Culture? His Hawaiin Culture? Poor choices yes he made them but how does that reflect his parents and his culture? blanston… what kind of “culture” do you have? sounds like your of european roots. Dont come on here trying to bash someones parents and “culture”
My PEOPLE (SAMOAN) are a people of respect and honor… what a person does in life does not define their ‘CULTURE”  Im sure he was raised with the same upbringing a lot of samoans are raised with, which is a strict god fearing respectable upbringing. Dont go reaching for something YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT. or you will have a whole Nationality hating you.

  • Gern Blanston

I guess Mos didn’t “Respect The Culture”.

Too bad his parents didn’t teach him that the way to get respect is to act respectable.

    • Namii09

Gern blantson–how dare you talk about respect! You have no respect for the family or him for saying things like that. You say this cuz you dont know him but if was your family would be the other way around yah! You would be calling the cops the bad guys ! All i can say is god bless you!

      • Nightfighter777

And the best way these boys knew to show respect was  by stealing a car, smoking batu..WHILE DRIVING..carrying a gun ? and you have the nerve to call someone on their respect ?..oh brahhda..try no talk.

    • Jonahkekona

Gern Blansont-easy for u say when u never even know the braddah.  U shouldn’t talk about one kanaka maoli like that, especially if u caucasian yourself!  Sad if you live here on Maui…  Another a-hole my people gots to put up with.

      • Jonahkekona

SORRY I SAID THAT, THE BRADDAH, JUST LIKE ME WAS A SAVAGE… I LIKE MEN BY THE WAY…

        • Anonymous

Ho braddah, too much information… Lets keep that in da closet, dis not the time or place.

      • Gern Blanston

Jonah, we don’t need your racist hate here.

        • Jonahkekona

AFROKEN-so you the hacker.  Get a life pal!  That’s ok.  I’ll just report you.

        • Jonahkekona

Wow Germ… I mean Gern. Now u like steal idendity. What a puss!

        • Jonahkekona

Gern- Not racist.  You talking about “Respect The Culture”.  What culture are you talking about?  And why include his ‘ohana?

          • Gern Blanston

Jonah, saying that you’re not a racist doesn’t change the fact that you’re a racist.

The culture that I’m talking about is Mos’s culture.  His lifestyle of bad decisions reflects poorly on his people. He spent his whole life putting his family’s name on police crime reports and convict databases.

I don’t know if Mos had an ohana.  There doesn’t seem to be any evidence of it.  We know that it took two people to spawn him.  But the bottom line, is that the product of his family’s BEST ability to develop Mos as a person, was that he victimized our island non-stop until turning himself into worm food at age 31.

          • Anonymous

Boy you guys don’t stop. What’s the matter? Did he jack you guys for your stash? Oooh to bad!!!!!!

    • SoljahGirl

Mos parents had nothing to do with the way he chose to live it was his life. you need to shut up n stop lippin cuz ur hands arent clean either.

      • Gern Blanston

You are correct, Girl.  His parents clearly had nothing to do with the way he chose to live his life.  If they had, he might still be alive.

You see, the word “parent” is actually a VERB.

    • Johnwayne808

Your parents did not teach you respect either. So you know of him by the media and what they post. But you talk about his partents whom you have no knowledge of. What did your parents teach you about bad mouthing people you don’t know. Matter of fact maybe your parents did a good job, but you as an adult make this choice of stereotyping people you don’t know. That is ugly!

  • Namii09

To all you people posting about Mos, please have some respect for him and his family if you are a person of God then you would be saying your condolences! Instead of listening to the media keep your mind to yourself. If you have nothing nice to say dont say it at all. My prayers are with the Langford Ohana and Shelly. Lord i pray that you put your healing hands on the Ohana and help them to overcome this major obstacle. Help them lord to move that mountain and to move forward because we know now lord that he is in your hands.Bless the Langford Ohana and Shelly and their boy Ezekiel in jesus name Amen!

    • Gern Blanston

I will concede that the loss of a life is a huge price to pay, for the two people who spawned Mos and released him upon the world to learn that the word “parent” is actually a VERB.

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/CLVJPAHHSHQUUNI6NWDXTODZ6Y Myra

Thank you !!(: Rest in Love Uncle Marshall <3

      • Gern Blanston

        You’re welcome.

    • Guest

I don’t think God takes too kindly to those who live in sin, and this motha was a sinner. Unless you’re saying that no matter how you choose to live your life, you’ll end up in heaven anyway. I guess the secret is out.  EVERYONE, YOU DON’T HAVE TO FOLLOW THE RULES OR ABIDE BY THE LAWS. NOR DO YOU HAVE TO “LOVE THY NEIGHBOR.” YOU’LL STILL END UP IN HEAVEN, APPARENTLY.

      • Guest

Maybe she’s talking about him being in the (Dark) Lord’s hands. Then in that case, DON’T SIN or you’ll end up in the wrath of the Dark Lord.

        • Gern Blanston

          Pretty much.

She can’t be talking about our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, because his names are all capitalized.

I have absolutely zero idea what could possibly make the friends, family, and criminal associates of Mos make them think that he is anywhere other than in eternal torment in the fires of Hell right now.

Good trees bear good fruit, bad trees bear bad fruit.  Do the math.

        • Gern Blanston

What church did Mos worship at anyway?

          • Anonymous

            The one you go to

      • Namii09

I guess you must not go to church and know about the lord becauase um let me get this straight HE DIED FOR OUR SINS! Did Mos take a life ? No! Fly high with the angels Mos!

        • Guest

OK. So stealing a car, possessing weapons and drug paraphernalia and whatever illegal sh*t HE put HIMSELF in; all these criminal charges brought upon him; no matter what he did, since the Lord died for our sins, this criminal’s actions are justified? I don’t go to church but I believe in God and you don’t see me committing these f*cked up sins just because the Lord died for our sins.
He didn’t take another person’s life but having guns, being high on ice, committing theft, any of that sh*t wouldn’t lead to an innocent victim getting seriously hurt or killed? Or do you KNOW that he would have never taken another life or seriously hurt someone because he’s been a drugged up f*ckin ice head for a long time now and has never committed the ultimate sin?

        • Anonymous

He is a FORGIVEN GOD remember that…..

          • Gern Blanston

domo, do not blaspheme here.  God is NOT forgiven.  God has never done anything that he would need to be forgiven for.  God has never sinned.

  • makaimomma

Amazingly, the Mana Kai just installed security cameras last week and they are recorded.  Hopefully they got a good view of the incident.  My understanding from MK employees is that several guests have given statements to the police stating that they witnessed Mr. Langford with a gun in his hand and raise it.  They had good vantage points in the parking lot and from the above on the walk way.  I still think it is odd that on the same night that an 18 year veteran of the Maui PD shot Mr. Langford that an 18 year veteran of the Maui PD (see other article) was arrested for sexual assault of a 15 year old.  Same officer or weird coincidence?  It would be really nice to understand which Mana Kai employee these upstanding citizens were visiting and for what purpose.  The Mana Kai is a great place and they don’t need people who associate with criminals crawling about…or something bad might happen…like a shooting in the parking lot!  Not great for business.  Made mainland and national news.  Are you listening Winston and Doug?  Time to take a closer look at your employees and what they are doing while at work.

    • makaimomma

And FYI, I am not a fan of the MPD.  Corrupt and inept.  But a gun toting ice head isn’t any better.  Both are bad.

      • Gern Blanston

Mos desperately wanted to be some 300 pound Tongan guy’s girlfriend for the rest of his life, but his plan didn’t work out.

Maybe Marcus will be more successful.

  • Gern Blanston

Interestingly enough, Mos has not committed a single violent drug felony since Tuesday.

    • Josiah

Yup, he quit smoking ice cold turkey. Good job Mos, keep it up.

      • Sinsofthetongue

Some people sin by simply overusing their tongue.Ecclesiastes 5:2 says, “Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thine heart be hasty to utter any thing before God: for God is in heaven, and thou upon earth: therefore let thy words be few.” God doesn’t like a blabber mouth. You say, “Well, that’s just the way I am!” Then REPENT!

        • Josiah

So why aren’t you scolding the people badmouthing MPD? You know, the good people who keep you safe from the likes of Mosi and Marcus Langford.

          • Sinsofthetongue

Do you find it entertaining to Make Fun of a dead person? Now this seem a bit infantile.

          • Josiah

Why is it okay to bad mouth the heroes who righteously defend you from evil people like Mosi? Why are you so upset that Mosi is correctly categorized as an evil person, but not upset at the unfair characterization of MPD, the very people who sacrifice so much to keep you safe? Why the double standard? Why are you such a hypocrite? Answer the question!

          • Johnwayne808

Yes Mosi made bad choices committing countless crimes, and the worst one was taking that first hit of Crystal Meth (which was invented by man back in the 1800′s), which spiraled into a life of crime committing one sin after another. The public has called Mosi all sorts bad names, why, because they feel he deserves that too and it is justified. On 5/22/2012, he paid the ultimate price, his life was taken and another man killed a man and he has to live with that thought for the rest of his living life. Now we have an internet war with countless different opinions of who’s right and who’s wrong. Who’s corrupt and who’s evil. Well in this case as you call him, the evil man is gone, case closed. Death is not enough justice for some, they need to ridicule a dead man. He may not be affected by it but what about his living relatives. If MPD entire police force is made up of officers who honestly abide by the Law Enforcement Oath of Honor and all that is stands for, then they have nothing to worry about. If there are citizens here in maui that has experienced or do experience any type of police harassment then we need to take action and report it.

          • Gern Blanston

Sin, you’re being rash with your mouth…

    • Sinsofthetongue

What a cutting retort:  Much can be said of a person’s character by the way they use their tongue. Speech is the index of the mind. Some people have a sharp piercing tongue which Satan uses to offend and insult others.

  • Maui808

WELL ENOUGH time for them to PLANT it in his car… WOW MPD WOW… GReat job at covering your tracks…
Maui43:I also find it interesting that the Maui police didn’t recover a gun. Perhaps the only way for him to have not died in vain would be for this tragedy to spark courage in the people of Maui to stand up and make MPD accountable for their actions.

What the fuck ur aim was wrong?? If ur an 18 year veteran then u should have known to try and stop him some other way! He don’t have to die. Seems like ur targeting a certain set of people?!?

    • Josiah

I think we’ve all got to know Mosi these last few days. We know he was a thief, and an ice head who carried a gun. We’ve also been told that he was a really good person, and a wonderful father and family man.

  • raerae

    • Josiah

Wait a minute, shame on us cause we pass judgement on a convicted felon who got killed cause he pulled on gun on the cops while high on ice in a stolen car. But it’s ok for you to pass judgement on the police? Why’s that?

      • http://profile.yahoo.com/CLVJPAHHSHQUUNI6NWDXTODZ6Y Myra

Seriously though, why do you even care ? Was he your lost loved one ? Your friend ? An Aquantance? I dont think so, so why are you still putting in your 2 cents ? You don’t have a family to go spend time with ? A job to do ? What happend to my Uncle Marshall just shows that life is too short. Why don’t you go spend more time with your family, instead of worrying about the feds and my Uncle.

        • Bemyguest

           JOSIAH IS RIGHT THOUGH….

        • Josiah

Why do I care? I care because yes, I do have a family, and I’m glad that my family is protected from evil men like your uncle, by the righteous men and women of MPD. Just because you knew Mosi or were related to him, doesn’t mean he wasn’t an evil man. We know of lots of people throughout history who were evil. All of those people had mothers and fathers. Even Hitler had a wife and a dog who loved him. I had a very religious upbringing and I know that unfortunately, Mosi is in Hell right now. That’s the path he chose.

          • Gern Blanston

            You got that right, Josiah.

How do you know he’s in He’ll, did you see him there?

        • Gern Blanston

Because, Myra, we are something called “tax-payers”.  We are the ones who were actually paying for all of his crimes.

          • Anonymous

Excuse me, I’m a taxpayer also? Why are u still bashing on him, and saying we are the ones paying for his crimes its not “ONLY” his crimes but everyone else that has the same problem.

  • Rsablan

The Maui News has a lot more on this sad incident from Langford’s family from Thursday’s paper, something I have been looking for all day here, but still can’t find on this site. I will be looking at the paper in the morning to get the real whole story, which Mauinow is clearly not interested in providing. More sensationalism means more hits and more hits and more misinformed people — MPD is bad, etc., etc. Be very, very wary of what you are reading here cuz it ain’t the truth.

  • Jonahkekona

(an) idiot. Thanks for the spell check. Fingers too big for this damn phone.

  • kanoe

Witnesses reported the police officer banging on the vehicle window, giving repeated verbal commands. Taser and chemical irritants options seem out. Witnesses further reported suspect driving erratic, and collided with a truck. A vehicle driven irresponsibly is a deadly weapon, and the use of deadly force is a real option. This felony stop has quickly escalated. Shot-out tires can still roll. The suspect allegedly in possession of a firearm is a focal point. Family members reported their love one using a cell phone. Not sure what type of phone, or whether it was at his ear or shoulder level. But with the sizes of some phones and dark colors, and the way they’re held… Imagine the way you may hold your phone?  And in a state of flight/fear what have you, checking and re-checking the threat level, and having a sudden turn holding such an instrument? If the suspect was not using the phone when the officer initially approached, this new observation can be alarming. With respect to obtaining a search warrant, better safe than sorry. Attorneys love to argue constitutional law..  Any evidence recovered once the crime scene has been secured can be suppressed or worse rule inadmissible. Although there have been far too many shocking criminal incidents by MPD officers, I do not believe the agency as a whole is not corrupt. Their screening, and training of recruits is tough.

  • Bytch96792

I does not take two days too get a search warrant bull shit and why would mos carry a gun not loaded…..MPD JUST BCZE YOU DISLIKE SUMONE DONT GIVES YOU THE F****** RIGHT TO SHOOT SUMONE 3 TIMES IN THERE HEAD….AND YOU M.P.D COUNSELOR WERE YOU THERE TO SEE IF HE HAD A GUN????? THE M.P.D PLANTING THAT TOO SAVE THE ASS….WHAT CORRUPT IS M.P.D ATLEAST THE HONOLULU POLICE DEPARTMENT HAS BRAINZ!!!!

    • Guest

“why would mos carry a gun not loaded.”

What the f*ck are you saying?  That usually, he would carry loaded guns instead? If you’re trying to defend your low life friend maybe you should have said something like, oh I don’t know, “why would mos carry a gun, PERIOD.” Something along those lines.

      • Bytch96792

Why would anyone carry a loaded gun…an the M.P.D PLATING THAT TOO SAVE THEIR ASS!!!!! Thats ok cause when the interno affairs get in volve we see…MPD IS KNOWN AS TAKEN LIVES!

        • Guest

I don’t know what the f*ck you just said.  It’s not English; it’s not pidgin; it’s not even internet lingo; just straight gibberish. Maybe do yourself a favor and check your post for misspelled words and broken grammar so that your words can be taken seriously. And who is the person that liked your post? Yourself? Or just another dumb f*ck who is able to translate your gibberish?

        • Guest

Everyone, watch out because MPD is “PLATING” guns. I guess they have a gun banquet coming up and they are serving guns to those that attend. I wonder if they are edible. Hmm.

Also, watch out MPD because “INTERNO” affairs are coming after you guys, whoever they are. They better not start any INFERNOS or else they’ll all get burned like this guy.Lastly, and I did not know this, but seems like MPD goes by other names as well.  You can start calling them “TAKEN LIVES” from now on because that is what they are “KNOWN AS.”

        • Gern Blanston

Lol.  Is this the ESL forum?

  • Guest

You dumb f*cks who are trying to defend your friend need to learn how to f*ckin spell and construct proper sentences. Or are the only sentences that are familiar to you those that are handed down by a judge? Maybe you should spend more time reading books instead of defending repeat criminals. Stop justifying your friends criminal behaviors and own up to the fact that this was a f*cked up meth head who didn’t want to help himself or his family by obeying the f*ckin laws. Stop incriminating this police officer who put his life on the line to stop dumb f*cks like this.

    • Bytch96792

Wake the f*** up ok what if that was you child, relative or someone close to you. Think before you start running your mouth would you like to get shoot 3 times in your Head?? Why shoot someone in the Head. (Because you want to be a MURDERER) . ONLY THINK THEY IT AND CAN KILL PEOPLE BECAUSE THEY GET THEIR UNIFORM ON…..

      • Guest

You dont make any sense, it if was a close friend, or a family member, I for one, would try to help him get straight… My condolences go out to his family and friends, and may he rest in peace, and free of addiction and his own personal demons, I’m sure he is in a much better place and seeing things clearly now. However, I do not condemn his actions, and believe that he did in fact brought this upon himself. I do not know if he was shot in the head, i did not read it any where so I will not assume thats what happened. I do believe that you are just siding with the victim, just because you obviously knew him. As we all should let him rest in peace, you should allow MPD to continue its investigation, and should not talk like the way you do about the department. They are not murderers and will never be. Mosi”” put himself in danger the moment he stole the car (or got in the stolen car). The MPD Officer, just responded to a call, and did what he was trained to do, to save innocent lives, including his own.

Defending yourself does not mean you are a murderer, the circumstances were very unfortunate, but to try and make a situation that was very bad look better by saying the cop is a person who goes out and kills people everyday for fun is not a way to make the situation look better for Mosi.

      • No Can

They killed the guy because he pointed a gun at them. If someone points a gun at you and you have a gun too you should probably shoot that person first whether you have a uniform on or not. Or you can aim for the guy’s arm, up to you. Me, I’m not that good of a shot so I’m aiming for center mass like this cop did. Got nothing to do with me wanting to kill someone, has everything to do with me not wanting to get killed.

ARE YOU BACKING UP THE NO GOOD M.P.D

    M.P.D IS CORRUPTION

    • Anonymous

Not all MPD officers are corrupted, I know this for a fact.

Just heard the news, one of the weapons recovered was a sawed off shotgun. Where have we seen a weapon like that before? Hmmm. Was it in a photo posted on Facebook in the hands of a certain Langford family member?

  • GCom

Hmmmmm…… LANGFORD – 18 convictions, drugs involved in some of his convictions (poisoning our community), in  a stolen vehicle and tries to flee from police; points gun at Police Officers, drug paraphernalia in vehicle – DEAD IS GOOD.  Don’t need punks like that in our community.  AWESOME JOB MPD!!!!!!!

Unfortunately there are a lot of people like Mosi in our community, and death is never a solution. This was a very unfortunate incident and by no means should we as a community be happy or praising death upon a person. I do not know Mosi, nor am I on here to defend him or his family or the MPD, Im just trying to let people know that during a time like this, the last thing we should be doing is condoning death as a good thing and judging others. Any god fearing christian knows that god is the only one who can judge. Friends and family of Mosi need to know that as hard as it is right now, that trying to paint a portrait that Mosi was a angel is not going to change the preception of what the public already knows about him, and for those of you condoning his death and praising it, things wouldn’t be so happy for you if it was one of your family members. Also, to those bashing MPD, a few rotten apples shouldn’t spoil the whole bunch, and you should’t believe or think that every officer of the law is corrupt. Accept facts and reality, and understand that things happen in life and situations happen, this incident happened and a unfortunate situation ended up happening, and by no means should we ever be praising it or enjoying it. Aloha.

Well said, I agree with you 100%.

The only thing that should be grieved for after reading the posts in this comment section is the English language…

    • Gern Blanston

No kidding.  I’d like to file criminal police reports for the theft of my tax dollars if these people attended public school.

  • I forgot my fake name

I’m no evidence expert but the photos today in the Maui News of the shotgun and 9mm are the same two types of guns that Marcus Langford is seen posing with on his facebook page.  No way to really tell if they are the same 2 guns.  That’s the MPD’s job.  (the shotgun photo has since been removed)

Oh and in the background of today’s Maui News shotgun photo, there is a hoodie visible set on the trunk of the car.   Marcus still has a pic up on his facebook of him wearing what appears to be that same hoodie.  (It’s the photo of him kissing a girl while giving the finger. )  That Marcus is such an angel, what a role model.

Supposedly he has a voice mail recording of 3 shots being fired from a call Mosi made to him while attempting to evade the MPD.   You would think if that were true he’d be more that happy to let someone hear it wouldn’t ya.  Or let someone see his phone and verify the incoming call times / length.

Marcus is of full of it and being set up, he’s not that smart.  Anyone protecting him should be considered to be aiding a fugitive….or maybe I’ve seen to many movies.

I’d hate Marcus’s next crime to be an “I told you so” moment for the MPD.  Or maybe someone is already attempting to “handle” the Marcus situation.

I’m sorry the family is being put thru this.

What are you jealous or something avout MARCUS…….AND READ THE NEWS GOOD BROTHER IN LAW, NOT BROTHER!!

      • Gern Blanston

I don’t think anyone is jealous of Marcus- he’s apparently working very hard to become some 300 pound Tongan guy’s girlfriend in jail for the rest of his life.

it is a tragedy for both parties but, i find it funny in the article from the maui news what the ”Deputy Corporation Councel” had commented a few times. She said only the sawed off shot-gun was in hands reach of Marshall Langford. But when he ”supposenly” pointed the gun at the officer which to be appeared from his point-of-view was a semi-automatic hand gun. The semi-automatic hand gun which later discovered to be an air-soft gun! They never mentioned where exactly they found the hand gun, which they said its the one he had in his hand. If all you non-sense people who are against Langford read the article, it says only the shot-gun was in arms reach like if that is the gun he supposenly used. The MPD just doesn’t make sense. And in the article that the mother responded back in the news, she said that their were proof that he had a cellphone in his hand because he called his in-law and on his voicemail their he can only hear 3 gunshots! But this was all a setup. I know a lot about this corrupted system!!! Since when do you need a search warrant if their is more than a probale cause to enter the vehicle? If they needed a search warrant to enter the vehicle, how did they enter the vehicle to grab Marshall Langford out of the car, they had to have enter it somehow right? This just all doesn’t make sense. Yeah what they had in the car was completely wrong. I ain’t saying anything about that. But was it really right for how the officer took actions?MPD is corrupted. A few years back I witnessed my friends dad get blasted in front of his 3 kids. He already shot himself in the chest with a nail-gun numerous times. So wouldn’t you think they would try shoot him in his arm to disable himself? NO! They decided to kill him! And he only had a fricken nail gun! Like how scared threatening can you get? MPD needs to grow some hair on their balls! MPD is too lazy to RUN! They rather go to stores and get free food and just hangout all day/night. I really hope Marshall Langford mother does pursue this lawsuit. She’ll definitely win if they have the voicemail with the gunshots!

People still posting that MPD is corrupt. Why dont you go research and look why you need a search warrant to search a vehicle, or go ask someone in the law enforcement field, like I did. I was told by my brother who is a HPD officer, that a search warrant is needed in this case because the alleged weapon used was perhaps not in sight of the officers at the time of the incident, and also in case there is any other weapons or evidence. I asked the same question on why a search warant was needed, but instead of coming on here and writing silly accusations I decided to find out myself. Now let me make myself clear, what I wrote is not the exact reason why, it is just a brief example given to me by my brother. Aloha.

    • Mauigyrl

So if it wasn’t in sight then the deceased should have not been shot. Cops stated deceased pulled a gun that’s why he fired and killed the deceased. Now u saying the a warrant was needed because the alleged weapon WAS NOT INSIGHT! Makes no damn sense, someone is covering up for a trigger happy situation!

      • Anonymous

Dont twist my words, I clearly stated that what I wrote is perhaps why, I didn’t say its the actual reason. Let me give you a scenario, Mosi is sitting in the driver seat, reaches with his right hand points the gun, Mosi gets shot, right hand falls,  gun falls out of sight of officers view. Now what I just wrote is not what happened but a scenario to why a warrant would be needed. Im not for the MPD or for Mosi, I’am a biased person trying to give answers and reasoning to all questions or situations being presented.

        • corruptedMPD

im not saying your wrong, but in reality where would the gun go after Marshall was shot? Meaning where would the gun be dropped that would be out of officers view? The only place where it would go out-of-view would be under the seat, in the dash compartment or in the trunk? Right? And in reality ask your brother(HPD OFFICER), after they pulled Marshall’s body out of the car, wouldnt the first thing they do is look for the gun to secure it and the area? But why would they need a search warrant for the vehicle too if they have already opened the car to get his lifeless body out?

I dont know what gun was found in the front, but it could’ve fell in between the seat and middle counsel. That would make it out of sight of the officers. I only asked my brother why a search warrant would be needed cause of my curiosity, if you want to know more, you can go ask someone yourself. Im not on here to defend Mosi or the MPD, but to put in my opinion and thoughts like everyone else.

      • HAHAHA

         U R SLUTT&

What I mean by “at the time of the incident” is that after Mosi was shot, not before he was shot. Just want to make myself clear.

  • usoskeeper

not in sight???? they claimed the suspect pointed the gun at the officers!

  • Gern Blanston

Yes, it is true, Lorden does in fact urinate in a seated position.
