A fire that forced the temporary evacuation of residents in a Kula neighborhood on Tuesday is now 100% contained, but not yet extinguished.
Crews remain on scene extinguishing smoky patches within the burned area, according to Fire Services Chief Lee Mainaga.
Fire officials released damage estimates today saying the roof of a single-family home located at 274 Cooke Road sustained $50,000 in damage.
Two other homes that were threatened by the fire did not sustain any monetary damages according to fire officials.
“Fire crews did an outstanding job in protecting these structures and saving them from the approaching brushfire,” said FSO Mainaga.
