The County of Maui Department of Environmental Management today announced the availability of the January 2013 US EPA/Department of Health Consent Decree Wastewater Quarterly Report.

The report is available for public inspection and review on the county website at www.mauicounty.gov/wastewater (select “Current Wastewater Reports and Notifications”; or at the Department of Environmental Management, Wastewater Reclamation Division office at 2200 Main Street, Suite 610, Wailuku, HI 96793.

The 4th quarter report summarizes the county’s efforts in complying with various federal and state laws to preventing sewer spills.

The report includes updates on the status of ongoing plans, programs, procedures, and projects defined in the Consent Decree to prevent and minimize wastewater spills in Maui County.

In addition, a summary list of wastewater spills for the year ending Dec. 31, 2012, is included.

This report is generated pursuant to the 1999 Consent Decree between the US Environmental Protection Agency, Hawaii Department of Health and the County of Maui.

The county maintains a mailing list of interested parties who wish to receive the report each January. To be added to the mailing list, individuals should contact Scott Rollins from the Wastewater Reclamation Division at 270-7417.
