Maui Bus Transportation Services Suspended

The County of Maui Department of Transportation announced the following Maui Bus services to be suspended on Thursday, Aug. 7, and Friday, Aug. 8, due to safety concerns associated with the approaching tropical cyclone Iselle.

Maui Bus Fixed Route Service:

All Maui Bus fixed routes will be suspended some time between 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday evening, Aug. 7, depending on the route.

Last departure times for each route are listed below:

Queen Kaʻahumanu Center (Last Departure Times)

  • Haiʻkū Islander 4 p.m.
  • Upcountry Islander 4:30 p.m.
  • Lahaina Islander 4:30 p.m.
  • Kīhei Islander 4:30 p.m.
  • Kahului Reverse Loop 5 p.m.
  • Wailuku Reverse Loop 5 p.m.
  • Kahului Loop 5:30 p.m.
  • Wailuku Loop 5:30 p.m.

Whalers Village (Last Departure Times)

  • Kāʻanapali Islander 5 p.m.
  • Nāpili Islander 5 p.m.

Wharf Cinema Center (Last Departure Times)

  • Lahaina Villager 5 p.m.
  • Kāʻanapali Islander #2: 5 p.m.
  • Lahaina Islander 5:30 p.m.

Māʻalaea Harbor (Last Departure Times)

  • Kīhei Villager 5:05 p.m.

Pukalani Street (Last Departure Times)

  • Upcountry Islander 5 p.m.
  • Kula Villager 5 p.m.

Maui Bus Commuter Service:

Commuter service on the Maui Bus will operate as normal on Thursday, Aug. 7, but will be completely suspended on Friday, Aug. 8.

Maui Bus Paratransit Service:

Maui Bus Paratransit Service will be suspended at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 7.  On Thursday, Aug. 7, the Maui Bus Paratransit Service will be available for same day reservations from home to the nearest shelter by calling MEO at 808-877-7651 up until 5:30 p.m.

Transportation to Shelters:

The County of Maui, in conjunction with Maui Economic Opportunity, Inc. and Roberts Hawaiʻi, will be providing complimentary transportation to the shelters in Maui County from various designated pick-up points. Transportation will be offered between 1 and 6 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 7. More information is forthcoming.

All Maui Bus services will be also be suspended on Friday morning, Aug. 8, until the determination is made that the weather and roads are clear and safety to travel.
