The Maui Celebrity Series was created in 2010 by Evans, who was the opening act for stars such as Joan Rivers and Jay Leno. Utilizing relationships created through his career, he found a way to bring big names to Maui who typically perform in much larger venues.

Evans brought MOS DEF to Maui as part of the series in 2011.

“We have very exciting plans for the island. Lahaina is going to be booming again,” said Evans, who received a commendation from then Gov. Linda Lingle for creating the series.
