Nā Hōkū Hanohano-nominated artist Sean Robbins will perform at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center’s McCoy Theater on Sunday, Oct. 25, from 7 to 9 p.m. Robbins will also bring Miss Aloha Hula, Nāmakana Lim, to the stage for an incredible performance.

Robbins made a big impact with the debut of his first album, Olanui, which was nominated for three awards in 2015. He now follows up with the first leg of The Olanui Tour, which will have the 21-year-old musician visiting fans old and new in Hilo, Kahului and Lihu‘e.

Robbins, born and raised in Puna on Hawai‘i Island, is a kī hō‘alu (slack key), falsetto rising star and a haku mele (Hawaiian songwriter). A protégé of slack key master and legendary musician Cyril Pahinui, Robbins has developed his own unique style of progressive slack key art.

His Hawaiian name, “Olanui,” translates to “full life” and is fitting for someone who is accomplishing so much. Besides his Nā Hōkū Hanohano nominations, Robbins achievements to date include the 2009 Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist Award, a certificate of recognition from the Hawai‘i State Senate for his musical, academic and leadership accomplishments in 2010, and in 2011, another recognition by The Hawai‘i County Council.

Robbins will also perform at the East Hawaiʻi Cultural Center in Hilo on Oct. 24, from 7 to 9 p.m. Tickets are $20; email [email protected].

On Oct. 29, he will be on Kaua‘i performing at Saint Michael Church Lihu‘e from 7 to 9 p.m. Tickets are $20; email [email protected].
