Maui Ocean Center Launches Shuttle Transportation
The Maui Ocean Center has launched a new shuttle service that offers round trip transportation to south and west Maui locations.
The aquarium has partnered with Dynamic Tour Hawaiʻi to provide guests with transportation, available for customers with prepaid Aquarium general admission tickets.
The Aquarium shuttles are now in service and will make prearranged pick-ups and drop-offs at designated west and south Maui properties. Each shuttle will complete its assigned route twice daily.
The Aquarium uses two Ford E450 class shuttles with carrying capacities of approximately 14 passengers.
West Maui riders will pass through the historic town of Lahaina, the former capital of Hawaiʻi, and enjoy a drive along coastal roads.
Riders from south Maui locations will travel along stretches of sandy beaches with a view of Māʻalaea Bay.
During whale season, riders will have the opportunity to spot breaching and spouting humpback whales during their commute.
Aquarium shuttles have been professionally outfitted with ocean-themed graphics on every body panel, “creating a unique and fun riding experience for guests,” company representatives said.
Visitors and kamaʻāina will easily recognize the shuttles by the single, large-scale marine animal on both sides, with a message to “Meet the Locals of Hawaiʻi’s Underwater World.”
Aquarium representatives say the images highlight the fact that many of the marine animals at the center are endemic and found nowhere else in the world.
These images include an octopus, sandbar shark, and Hawaiian green sea turtle.
The cost to book a round-trip ride to Maui Ocean Center is $5.00 per person for all ages. Shuttle transportation is an add-on service only and must be purchased with a general admission Day Journey Pass, Fin-tastic Family Pass, or Discover & Dine package; transportation is currently not offered as a single, standalone purchase and cannot be combined with other promotional offers.
