NW Fading, New XXL Pe’ahi Swell Expected Soon

A Small Craft Advisory is in effect for all Maui County windward waters and most channels through 6 a.m. Tuesday and could be extended should conditions persist.
A High Surf Advisory is posted for the north shores of Molokai and Maui through 6 a.m. Tuesday.

Maui Surf Forecast
North: Wave heights are fading through the day in the well overhead to overhead range at the best spots.
West: Wrap from the northwest swell affecting some western shores today will fade. Spots with northern exposure could get up to well overhead or more early in the day.
South: Wave heights are waist high or less today out of the south-southwest.
Our current north-northwest swell is expected to continue today, then fade through the afternoon. An XXL swell is expected to rise Wednesday, peak late Wednesday and slowly trend down starting Thursday. Deep water breaks should see wave heights from 30 to 40 foot faces while standout breaks like Pe’ahi “Jaws” could even get up to 50 to 60 foot faces.
A small southwest swell continues to build Tuesday before fading back down Wednesday.
Keep in mind, surf heights are measured on the face of the wave from trough to crest. Heights vary from beach to beach, and at the same beach, from break to break.
