A Small Craft Advisory is in effect for all Maui County windward waters and most channels through 6 p.m. Thursday.

A High Surf Warning is posted for the north and west sides of Molokai and the north shore of Maui through 6 p.m. Thursday.

North: Wave heights are building all day with a peak in the afternoon/evening up to 30 to 40 foot faces with 50 to 60 foot faces at the best spots.

West: Wrap from the northwest swell affecting some western shores today will build. Spots with northern exposure could get upwards of 40 foot faces.

South: Wave heights are waist high or less today out of the south-southwest.

Screen Shot 2016-02-09 at 2.54.46 PMAn XXL swell is expected to rise Wednesday, peak late Wednesday and slowly trend down starting Thursday. Surf on the smaller islands is expected to be at warning levels by daybreak tomorrow. Deep water breaks should see wave heights from 30 to 40 foot faces while standout breaks like Pe’ahi “Jaws” could even get up to 50 to 60 foot faces. Most spots will be washed out.

Our current southwest swell begins to slowly fade back down Wednesday.

Keep in mind, surf heights are measured on the face of the wave from trough to crest. Heights vary from beach to beach, and at the same beach, from break to break.
