A man wanted as a suspect in a stabbing at a Wailuku home in January, has since been arrested and charged with attempted murder.
Waylon Santos, 36, was arrested on Friday, Feb. 19, 2016 by members of the department’s Special Response Team, after evading police for over a month.
He was charged with second degree attempted murder, first degree burglary, criminal contempt of court and discharge of sureties.
The charges stem from a Jan. 18, 2016 incident in which Santos is accused of breaking into a home, knocking a 29-year-old Wailuku man to the ground and using a weapon to stab the man multiple times, according to Maui police.
Police say the victim, who was in the company of a 27-year-old woman at the time, was taken to the hospital for the treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
According to police reports, police canvassed the area; however, Santos was nowhere to be found at the time, and an All Points Bulletin was issued for his arrest.
Santos was being held in lieu of $1,060,000 at last report.
