Turtle Hatchlings Arrive at Maui Ocean Center
Six, three-month-old Hawaiian green sea turtle hatchlings have arrived from Sea Life Park Hawaiʻi and are now ready for public viewing at Maui Ocean Center.
The aquarium will host a blessing ceremony at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 11, with its Hawaiian cultural advisor, followed by the hatchling’s introduction to Turtle Lagoon.
The public can Book Admission at the link provided.
The hatchlings will be hosted by Maui Ocean Center where they will serve as ambassadors of their species.
Hawaiian green sea turtles are classified as a Threatened Species under the Endangered Species Act of 1973. The presence of sea turtles and their integration into the Aquarium’s education programs aims to teach guests about Hawaiian green sea turtles, the challenges they face, and what people can do to promote conservation.
The Aquarium provides guests with a number of educational opportunities and encounters with the turtles including presentations at Turtle Lagoon.
