The annual award highlights the top travel destinations and companies around the world.  The rankings are derived from an algorithm that examines both the quantity and quality of TripAdvisor reviews. Approximately 85% of reviewers scored Maui Ocean Center with a 4- or 5-star rating.

Tapani Vuori, General Manager for the Maui Ocean Center called the ranking an honor saying, “We appreciate every individual traveler who visited Maui Ocean Center and rated their experience. The overwhelmingly positive feedback speaks volumes to the passion and dedication of our team, a group of individuals who truly deserves the recognition for this monumental achievement. For the past 20 years, they are the ones who connect our Mission and Vision with each and every guest in a way that creates memorable experiences while fostering a sense of wonder and respect for Hawaiʻi’s marine life.”

Aquarium representatives say Maui Ocean Center exhibits only marine animals found in Hawaiian waters while perpetuating the relationship between the Hawaiian culture and the sea.

The aquarium features one of the world’s largest displays of live Pacific corals and an immersive, 750,000-gallon Open Ocean exhibit. Other experiences, such as the Behind-the-Scenes Tour and Shark Dive Maui, contributed to the positive ratings.

In recent years, TripAdvisor also named Maui Ocean Center among the “Top 25 Best Aquariums in the US,” “15 Top Aquariums In The USA You Need To Experience,” and inducted the Maui aquarium into the “TripAdvisor Hall of Fame.”
