County of Maui Disaster Area Restrictions will be lifted for owners and residents with vehicle passes from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning Friday, Oct. 27 and Saturday, Oct. 28, in Zones 4A, 4B and 4C.

Nonprofits, houses of worship have until Oct. 25 to apply for disaster public assistance

Time is running out for private nonprofits, houses of worship and government organizations to apply for a key type of federal assistance for the Hawai‘i wildfire disaster. Requests for public assistance funding from the Federal Emergency Management Administration must be filed no later than Wednesday, Oct. 25.

A public bathroom at Kanahā Beach Park in Kahului was destroyed by fire on Sunday morning, resulting in total damages of $150,000 to the structure.

Ground ambulance contract award canceled for Kauaʻi and Maui following protest

The state Department of Health is canceling both RFPs for ambulance service awarded on Maui and Kauaʻi, and directing the procurements to start over. Department officials say the requirement to maintain the current level of staffing for Advanced Life Support was not clearly included in the RFPs.
