Learning the Ins and Outs of WBENC Certification

Oct. 26 from 10 to 11 a.m.

Join Maria Boykin, Women Business Enterprise Council-West director of certification. The workshop is designed to walk participants through marketing as a women-owned business by obtaining the Women Business Enterprise National Council certification.

Maria will guide attendees step-by-step through the Women Business Enterprise National Council standards and procedures to help them determine if their company’s documents validate the the councilʻs required 51% ownership, operation, control, highest title, and independence by a woman or women owner.

Pamela Stambaugh, president and founder of Accountability Pays Inc, will talk about Adaptive Capacity and how to respond to the challenges and uncertainty brought about not only by the wildfires of Aug. 8, but also ongoing turmoil that exists in the nation today. 

“Adaptive Capacity” is being able to understand and accept what is happening while being responsible for the impact on others.

When it comes to managerial roles, this is particularly important because a manager’s behavior has impacts. This inquiry covers the delicate balance between external forces, internal forces, and choices made. Adaptive Capacity, then, is the ability to adapt quickly and appropriately, driven by behaviors and limited by blind spots.
