Police say Richard J. Organiscak, 56, died at around 4 p.m. on Wednesday, April 1, 2015, at the Maui Memorial Medical Center, where he was being treated for injuries in the Intensive Care Unit.

Shortly after 12 p.m. police responded to a traffic accident on the Honoapiʻilani Hwy (30) on the Māʻalaea side of the intersection with N. Kīhei Road.

The 52-year-old Lahaina man was traveling towards Māʻalaea when the vehicle he was operating crossed the center line and sideswiped a vehicle carrying four people that was traveling in the opposite direction.

The accident is in the vicinity of the Central Maui Base Yard Road and reportedly involved three vehicles, according to witness accounts.
