The Office of Hawaiian Affairs has selected AEA Consulting, an internationally recognized firm specializing in cultural strategy and planning, to conduct a comprehensive feasibility study for the development of a Native Hawaiian Cultural Center in Kakaʻako Makai — a project rooted in community, culture, and the revitalization of Native Hawaiian presence in urban Honolulu.

The enactment of Act 167 designates September as Hawaiian History Month in the State of Hawaiʻi, a long-fought victory for Native Hawaiian advocates.

The Association of Hawaiian Civic Clubs today unveiled a plaque at the President William McKinley High School campus at the statue of the school’s namesake to address the misrepresentation of Hawai‘i’s invalid annexation history. The statue holds a “Treaty of Annexation” document that was never ratified by the United States Senate as called for by the US Constitution and portrays an inaccurate history, according the Association of Hawaiian Civic Clubs.
