A SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY is posted for the Pailolo Channel and Māʻalaea Bay until 6 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, 2014. Rough seas are expected from 6 to 12 feet. Winds are forecasted out of the northeast at 20 to 25 knots. Inexperienced mariners are cautioned to avoid navigating in these conditions.

NNW Maui Swell Peaks, Fades Through Weekend

On Maui, the swell will show strongest for Hoʻokipa eastward. A potential swell for West Maui is partially blocked by Molokaʻi, so small ankle slappers are expected on that side.

Northwest Swell to Peak at 12 to 16 Feet on Molokai

Forecasters from the National Weather Service say the west-northwest swell will peak at 12 to 16 feet early this evening, before declining. Forecast surf heights are estimates of the height of the face or front of waves.
