The National Weather Service in Honolulu released a High Surf Advisory for Maui’s east facing shores, as well as for Molokai.

Waves will rise from 5 to 8 feet Friday night and will decline at 6 a.m. Wednesday, October 19.

The rough surf is attributed to strong northeasterly winds associated with an approaching front.

A High Surf Advisory cautions against swimming or fishing near the breaking waves because of dangerous rip currents and rapid approaching waves that may catch beach-goers off guard.
