EVENTS:   The National Weather Service in Honolulu has ISSUED a HIGH SURF ADVISORY for EAST FACING SHORES of MAUI and MOLOKAI in effect until 6:00 a.m. Thursday.

A High Surf Advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in the advisory area, producing rip currents and localized beach erosion.

EFFECTS:  Strong trade winds will bring rough and choppy surf to east facing shores of the Islands.  The surf is expected to remain elevated through Wednesday night.

Rough and choppy surf along east facing shores will continue to build, reaching heights of 6 to 8 feet today.

Forecast surf heights are estimates of the height of the face or front of waves.

A high tide of approximately 1.5 feet is expected between 2:40 p.m. and 3:58 p.m. this afternoon. The next high tide of approximately 2.6 feet is expected between 5:32 a.m. and 6:50 a.m. tomorrow morning.

PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES:   BEACH GOERS ARE URGED TO STAY OUT OF THE WATER AND WELL AWAY FROM THE SHORE BREAK DUE TO THE HAZARDOUS WAVE ACTION AND STRONG RIP CURRENTS.
