Playing tough matches in their league every week, helped the Kalani High School boys soccer team survive a physical quarterfinal match on Neighbor Island soil Saturday.

Kahului Harbor has staged many regattas over the years. Saturday, however, will be the first time hosting the best prep outrigger canoe paddlers in the 50th state and the 48 high school teams they represent.

The King Kekaulike High School girls volleyball team settled whatever unfinished business it had in the Maui Interscholastic League on Friday, executing a five-set, come-from-behind victory over Kamehameha Maui in the championship tilt of the Division I tournament.

The unbeaten Lunas managed to shutout Baldwin 35-0 Friday at War Memorial Stadium despite playing as if it had skipped a beat before a homecoming crowd of about 3,000.
