Hawaiian Electric is continuing restoration work to rebuild portions of the electric system in Lahaina in an effort to ensure safe and reliable power to all West Maui customers following the August 2023 wildfires. Ongoing restoration efforts include the rebuilding of transmission and distribution lines along former routes in the Lahaina area with the installation of new interim steel poles and electrical equipment.

Prepared by the resort’s pastry team, the gingerbread replica of the Maui Sugar Cane train is covered in 21,000 pineapple and gingerbread decorated cookies and is now on display in the hotel lobby.

Maui’s iconic Sugar Cane Train hosts the Holiday Express train rides, which will run for the second year in a row beginning Friday, Nov. 24 to Dec. 25, 2017.

An eight-week sealcoating project in the Puʻukoliʻi area of West Maui is slated to start on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014, and continue through the end of February, 2014.

Maui police say the vehicle, a 2001 Honda sedan, was traveling East on Puukolii Road, when it failed to come to a stop at the train crossing.
