85 YEAR OLD DRIVER STRIKES THREE PEOPLE AT THE NAPILI RECYCLING CENTER

Three people were transported to Maui Memorial Medical Center yesterday (Tuesday Feb. 24, 2009), one of them in critical condition after a vehicle struck them as they were standing nearby. Maui Police say the three were at the Napili Recycling Center at around 1 p.m., when a car driven by an 85-year-old Lahaina man collided into them.A 21 year old Wailuku man was medi-vaced to Central Maui with life-threatening injuries.Two Lahaina women, ages 16 and 37, were also injured and transported to the hospital for treatment.The driver was not injured.Maui Police say impairment by drugs or alcohol are not being procedurally investigated, but are not immediately suspected.
