MODERATE EARTHQUAKE RECORDED OFF HAMAKUA COAST

A moderate earthquake was recorded off the Hamakua Coast of the Big Island this morning. The tremor was recorded at 9:45 a.m. The warning center on Oahu recorded the quake as a 5.2 magnitude. Preliminary estimates by the US Geological Survey posted a preliminary magnitude of 4.0. The depth was 6 and a half miles below the surface. No Tsunami is expected….however, some areas may have experienced strong shaking. Again, no Tsunami is expected. (Posted: Monday, March 09, 2009 @ 10:10 a.m.)hamakuaquake_lg_01
