Hale Hōʻikeʻike at Bailey House Moonlight Mele Concert

The Maui Historical Society hosts a Moonlight Mele concert with George Kahumoku and Friends on Oct. 15, 2016 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the historic Bailey House in Wailuku.

The event features Uncle George Kahumoku and Friends along with the University of Hawaʻi Maui College Institute of Hawaiian Music and the mākua and kupuna of Hālau Nā Hanona Kūlike O Piˈilani.

Admission for the October concert is $5, with children under 12 admitted free.

“There’s nothing like listening to live Hawaiian music under the stars. You’ll feel like you’re at a private family party,” said Executive Director Sissy Lake-Farm.  “We want to support local musicians and provide authentic, safe, and comfortable family entertainment for our Maui community,” she said.

The concert takes place outdoors on the museum lawn with stunning ʻĪao Valley as the backdrop.

One of the goals of Moonlight Mele is to promote a stronger sense of community throughout Wailuku Town and Maui.  “The Bailey House grounds,” Lake-Farm said, “provides an excellent space for families to enjoy Hawaiian music under the full moon.”

Moonlight Mele with George Kahumoku and Friends is an outdoor concert series at Hale Hōˈikeˈike at the Bailey House sponsored by the Maui Historical Society. The series aims to promote Hawaiian cultural practices and reinvigorate community ownership of Wailuku Town.

Hale Hōˈikeˈike at the Bailey House is operated by the Maui Historical Society, a 501(c)3 non-profit incorporated in 1956. The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
