The County’s “Got Choice…Think Local” campaign is being extended through the end of August (8/31/2010).  County officials say the extension was made possible through public support of the program and its popularity.

The campaign aims to stimulate the economy by encouraging residents to shop locally through incentives from over 200 participating businesses.

Maui Mayor Charmaine Tavares said shopping locally adds up and can have a profound effect on the economy.  Promotions, giveaways and radio programs have been added throughout the course of the campaign since it was first launched in February.

“It’s exciting to see the success of this campaign,” said Tavares. “’Got Choice…Think Local’ supports our local economy by spending our money here at home. I’m grateful to the business owners and consumers in our community for participating and rallying behind local businesses,” she said.
