Drug investigation launched: 17 year MPD veteran turns himself in

A 17-year-veteran of the Maui police department turned himself in on Monday following an Information Charging Arrest Warrant.  39-year-old officer Ryan Masada was released from the Wailuku Police Station without incident after posting $10,000 bail.  The counts in the warrant include Promotion of a Dangerous Drug in the 3^rd Degree and Prohibited Acts Related to Drug Paraphernalia.

Authorities say Masada was assigned to the Wailuku Patrol Division prior to the indictment, but has since been re-assigned to Administrative Duty within the Department.  The case is pending prosecution.
