Wailuku Town Survey deadline May 7
Today (Friday, May 07, 2010) is the deadline to complete the county’s survey on the redevelopment of Wailuku Town. The survey was initiated by the county’s Department of Planning to determine how Wailuku town can evolve into a downtown core of commerce, culture and entertainment. The survey is available on the county’s website at www.mauicounty.gov/wailukutownsurvey.
The goal for the project area is to create an effective, market-based plan to retain, grow and attract high-quality development, as well as appropriate businesses and new investment to the Wailuku Redevelopment Area.
Funding for the Wailuku Market-Based Plan is provided by a grant through Tri-Isle RC&D from the U.S. Economic Development Administration, the Maui Redevelopment Agency, the County of Maui Office of Economic Development and private donors.
Development of the revitalization plan will be coordinated by nationally renowned planning group Progressive Urban Management Associates (PUMA). PUMA provides professional planning skills that advance business and civic districts through the development of management, marketing and financial implementation strategies that help communities compete in a changing economy.
