Education projects focus of Maui advisors May meeting
Education projects on Maui will be the focus of discussion at the upcoming meeting of the Governor’s Council of Neighbor Island Advisors. Maui Complex Area Superintendent, Lindsay Ball who oversees the Hana, Lahaina, Lanai, and Molokai district, will provide a status update on DOE (Department of Education) project throughout the West Maui Area.

Projects proposed for the Paia School cafeteria, new Kihei High School, and Wailuku II Elementary school will also be discussed. The meeting will be held Thursday, May 13, 2010 at 5 p.m. at the Lahaina Civic Center.
Governor Linda Lingle created councils of neighbor island advisors to give neighbor island residents a stronger voice in state government. The Maui group holds monthly public meetings to seek community input, advise the Governor of important issues and make recommendations for state boards and commissions.
Maui members include Madge Schaefer (chair), Kathryn Ghean, John Henry, Lori Ululani Sablas, Gail K. Takeuchi and Leona Rocha Wilson.
