Crews respond to home fire in Kahului subdivision

Maui police are investigating the cause of a structure fire in Kahului that destroyed an Ano Street home this afternoon.  The fire was first reported at 11:58 a.m. on Monday, July 12, 2010 at 408-A Ano Street in Kahului.  When officers arrived on scene, the structure was engulfed in flames. 

The residence was completely destroyed along with a pickup truck parked near the structure.  A chain link fence also sustained fire damage, as well as a tree in the backyard of a residence immediately behind the fire scene.

The occupants of the residence were able to get out when they saw the flames.  No injuries were reported according to preliminary police reports.  MPD Detectives and Fire Inspectors remained on scene this afternoon as they worked to investigate the cause of the fire.

Fire crews are responding to a fire reported in a Kahului subdivision near Maalo Place.  The blaze was reported before 12 noon today (Monday, July 12, 2010).  Details have not yet been released concerning the nature of the fire or the extent of damages.  Our MauiNOW crews were on scene a short while ago to capture the images below.
