Two pedestrians were transported to the hospital after they were struck by a pickup truck in a hit and run accident on South Kihei Road early Sunday morning, September 26, 2010.  The accident was reported at 2:04 a.m. on South Kihei Road at the Kupuna Street intersection in South Maui.

The two pedestrians were crossing South Kihei Road in a crosswalk when they were struck by a pickup truck that was traveling north on South Kihei Road.  After striking both pedestrians, the vehicle did not stop and fled the scene.

One of the pedestrians, a 26-year-old Kihei man, suffered critical, life threatening injuries.  The other pedestrian, a 22-year-old man from Hilo, suffered serious injuries.  Both were being treated at the Maui Memorial Medical Center.

A description of the pickup was obtained, and investigators were attempting to locate a suspect in Pukalani.  Anyone with information on the crash is asked to call Traffic investigators at 244-6344.
