EVENT:  The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a WIND ADVISORY for MAUI in effect until 6:00 p.m. this evening.  A WIND ADVISORY is now in effect for the HALEAKALA SUMMIT until 6:00 a.m. Wednesday.

A Wind Advisory means that winds of 30 mph are expected.

EFFECTS:  East winds for Maui will be 25 to 35 mph today, with locally higher gusts to near 50 mph.

East winds on the Haleakala Summit will be 30 to 35 mph today and tonight, with locally higher gusts to near 50 mph.

PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES:  WINDS THIS STRONG CAN MAKE DRIVING DIFFICULT, ESPECIALLY FOR HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES. USE EXTRA CAUTION. SECURE ANY LOOSE OBJECTS THAT MAY BECOME AIRBORNE OR MOVE THEM INDOORS.

INFORMATION:  Maui County Civil Defense will continue to monitor the situation.  Please listen to your local radio and TV stations or access NOAA Weather Radio broadcasts for any updates.
