The forecast calls for mostly clear skies across the state, aided in part by a dry, stable air mass. Light southerly winds are expected to persist over the islands through Tuesday, as a ridge of high pressure lags south of the islands.

Here on Maui, we can expect sunny skies with isolated showers in the afternoon. The National Weather Service forecasts highs to range between 78 and 83, with variable winds to 15 miles per hour. Tonight, we can expect mostly clear skies with isolated showers and lows between 66 and 71. Variable winds will continue at 15 miles per hour.

A front is expected to approach the islands from the north on Wednesday and stall north of Kauai, bringing wet weather to that island. Forecasters say another front will develop northwest of the islands Thursday, bringing unsettled weather to the state Thursday into the weekend, with thunderstorms possible, beginning late Thursday.
