Wet Weather over Kauai to Move Across State Tonight
The threat of flooding remains for Kauai County today, with wet weather expected to spread to the rest of the state tonight. A flash flood watch for the island began at 6 o’clock this morning and remains in effect through Friday night.
The unstable conditions are ahead of a cold front approaching the state from the west. The unstable air mass coupled with low level moisture increases the potential for flash flooding.
Oahu was also placed under a flash flood watch at 6:41 this morning.
A flash flood watch goes into effect for Maui and the rest of the state from tonight through late Friday. The National Weather Service says the potential for flooding due to locally heavy rainfall and thunderstorms will increase beginning tonight for the islands west of Kauai.
A watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Those in low lying areas should be aware of their surroundings and monitor future forecasts.
