UH Basketball Gears Up For Maui Tip-Off FridayDecember 14, 2010, 2:43 PM HST · Updated December 15, 7:28 AM 0 Comments
For the first time in seven years, the University of Hawai‘i men’s basketball team (6-2) will return to Maui. The game against Chicago State (2-9), is also the first neighbor island contest for the Rainbow Warriors in as many years.
Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. at the Lahaina Civic Center on Friday, December 17, 2010.
The Rainbow Warriors last appeared on Maui in the 2003 EA Sports Maui Invitational, also at the Lahaina Civic Center.
An autograph session featuring UH players and coaches will take place following Friday’s game.
The ’Bows are coming off a 72-50 win over Hawai‘i Pacific to improve to a perfect 6-0 at home this year.
This will be the third straight year that UH and Chicago State will meet in a December non-conference matchup. The ’Bows won the previous two meetings at the Stan Sheriff Center. Benjy Taylor, who served as the Chicago State head coach during those two meetings, is now an assistant at UH.
Following the Maui match-up, UH will return to O‘ahu to host the second annual Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic, Dec. 22, 23 and 25.
