High Surf Advisory North and East shores of Maui and Molokai 12/25/10

A High Surf Advisory is in effect for the north and east facing shores of Maui and Molokai from 6 a.m. Christmas Day to 6 p.m. Sunday, December 26, 2010.

Surf is expected to be 10-16 feet on the north shores and 8-12 feet along the east facing shores exposed to the swell.

The surf is expected to rise to advisory levels on Christmas morning, peak later that day, and slowly decline on Sunday.

Surf in the advisory area is expected to produce rip currents and localized beach erosion.

According to the National Weather Service, a high tide of approximately 2.8 feet is expected between 5:32 a.m. and 6:50 a.m. tomorrow morning. The next high tide of approximately 1.3 feet is expected between 5:22 p.m. and 6:40 p.m. tomorrow afternoon.
