(Update: 11:30 a.m. 12/26/10)

The heavy rains overnight resulted in isolated power outages in several upcountry locations.  Areas affected include small pockets in Piiholo, Olinda, Makawao, Omaopio, and Kaupakalua.

Officials with Maui Electric Company say the outages were caused by the lightning storm last night that resulted in a loss of transformers.

Crews are on scene working to restore power to affected areas.  Power is being restored to each area individually, and one area at a time.  MECO officials say it is not a situation where customers can be easily trasferred over to another circuit.

The outages are isolated areas and are not considered large pockets.
