The 65-foot Spirit of Lahaina catamaran vessel was navigating out of the harbor for a dinner cruise when it ran aground at approximately 5:30 p.m. The 60 passengers aboard were evacuated by a Good Samaritan Vessel. No injuries were reported and no pollution was observed as a result of the grounding.

The coast Guard Station Maui dispatched a 45-foot response boat to monitor the situation. The cause of the grounding is under investigation by the Coast Guard’s Marine Safety Team.
