The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory for the Summit of Haleakala on Maui until 6 o’clock Tuesday morning. Winds will be from the northeast at 24-35 miles per hour, with locally higher gusts.

As a precaution, motorists are advised to drive with caution, and take extra care when driving high profile vehicles.

Forecasters say a ridge building north of the Islands is shifting southward, and is bringing strong winds to the Summit. As the ridge axis moves over the Islands early Tuesday, winds are expected to diminish.
