The State Department of health issued a Brown Water Advisory for the Maalaea-Kihei area today.  The advisory extends from Haycraft Beach Park to Kalama Park due to heavy rains.  The public is advised to stay out of flood water and storm runoff.  Water and runoff can carry bacteria from overflowing cesspools and sewer manholes, pesticides, animal fecal matter, dead animals, chemicals and pathogens.  When coastal waters are turbid and brown, the public should stay out.
