Sir Elton John set a new record, this time by becoming the first concert on Maui to sell out of tickets so fast.  “No show on Maui has ever sold-out so quickly with such passionate enthusiasm,” according to a Maui Arts & Cultural Center email notification.

Elton John to perform in a second Maui-only concert on February 24, 2011. The initial concert date of February 25, 2011 still stands. Both concerts celebrate the new MACC Yokouchi Pavilion.

Non-members that wanted in on early ticket sales for Elton John, formed a separate line at the MACC on Tuesday for the Feb. 25 concert. The event sold-out in 2 days, and a second concert was added. Photo by Wendy Osher.

The MACC member message said that “while it’s unheard of to get an exclusive pre-sale period for a concert of this caliber, the MACC did,” for the Friday, February 25, 2011 event, “and members responded in kind.”

In response to the overwhelming demand, the MACC added a second show, set to take place one day prior, on Thursday, February, 24, 2011 at 7 p.m.

There will not be a pre-sale period for the added show, so members and the general public alike will have their chance to purchase tickets beginning at 10 a.m. tomorrow, Saturday, January 15, 2011.

The added Feb. 24 show was reportedly the only date Elton John had available.

MACC management thanked loyal members and new additions saying, “if it wasn’t for your enthusiasm and support, we wouldn’t be able to bring top name celebrities to Maui. We’re glad that Sir Elton has agreed to do another Maui show … we hope it will make a lot more people happy.”
