By Wendy Osher
The African American Heritage Foundation of Maui celebrates Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day today with a peace march and festivities. The event honors Dr. King’s legacy of Peace, Nonviolence and Social Justice.
The march begins at 11 a.m. at the University of Hawaii Maui College in Kahului, then proceeds east along Kaahumanu Avenue to the Hawaiian Canoe Club at Hoaaloha Park.
The guest speaker will be Carolyn Golojuch, who will speak on “Holding on to the Dream: Safe Schools for All.” Golojuch is a graduate from the University of Hawaii and holds a Masters Degree in Social Work.
Those in attendance are asked to bring a donation for the Maui Food Bank. A light lunch will be provided.
