Murphy has extensive experience in the golf industry.  His most recent post was as General Manager at the Ko’olau Golf Club.  He has also served in the past as Director of Golf at the Ka’anapali Golf Resort and Teaching Pro for the Kapalua Golf Club on Maui.  Off island, Murphy once worked as Head Golf Pro at the Waikoloa Beach & Golf Resort.

“Timothy has worn many hats within the golf industry here in Hawaii and we are happy to have him on our team during this time of development and growth for the golf course program and the resort as a whole,” said Shawn Sweeney, Senior Vice President for Landmark Hotels Group and General manager of the Makena Beach & Golf Resort, formerly the Maui Prince Hotel.

Among the improvements already made at Makena is the use of state-of-the-art golf carts with GPS tracking systems and advanced safety features installed.

About the Makena Golf Course:

Designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. and located at the Makena Beach & Golf Resort, the 18-hole

Makena Golf Course runs along the Pacific shoreline, adjacent to the hotel and provides stunning ocean views from nearly every hole as well as Mt. Haleakala and Molokini Islet. The course is renowned for its ancient Hawaiian rock walls, natural gullies and stream beds, which were incorporated into the course’s original design. It is a rugged, natural test of golf – winding up, down, over and around the verdant foothills of Maui’s 10,000-foot dormant volcanic crater. The Makena Golf Course includes a full-size driving range, full service Golf Pro Shop, Men’s and Women’s Locker Room and Shower Facilities, Beverage/Snack Service, and onsite Makena Clubhouse Restaurant.
