Where the Hell is Matt Maui

Internet viral sensation Matt Harding will reportedly be performing his famous “bad dance” at Kalama Park, Kihei, at 5 p.m. today.

Harding, a.k.a “Where the Hell is Matt?” or “Dancing Matt,” travels to hundreds of locations around the world, recording his dancing on video. His videos have attracted fans world-wide, who now join him in his videos and mimic his notoriously un-hip dance moves.

His 2008 video on YouTube alone has been viewed 33.5 million times. His videos are featured on many websites.

According to Harding, there is no deeper meaning behind the dancing. On the FAQs on his website which refer to questions about his “message,” Harding writes, “Up to you. I’m just dancing.”

Harding previously worked as a videogame designer in Brisbane, Australia, before quitting his job to travel the world. His first video was an unplanned dance in Hanoi, Vietnam. The video went viral, and was so popular it attracted the attention of sponsor Stride Gum, who funded his subsequent trips. Harding is originally from Connecticut.
