Two Great Bands in One Big Night: The Doobie Brothers and WAR, April 1, 2011

Two legendary groups share the stage in one great night at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center.  Rock-n-roll’s Doobie Brothers and funk phenoms WAR are scheduled to perform Friday, April 1, 2011 at the new Yokouchi Pavilion.  Combined, the two groups bring four decades’ worth of hits to Maui.

Mega-hits from The DoobieBrothers include, “Listen To The Music,” “Rockin’ Down The Highway,” “Jesus Is Just Alright,” “China Grove,” “Long Train Runnin’,” “South City Midnight Lady,” “Black Water,” “Another Park, Another Sunday” and “Takin’ It To the Streets.”

Meantime, 70s funk favorite WAR melds music from various genres including Latin, jazz, blues, reggae and rock influences.   Their political edge is delivered with a laid-back vibe with hit songs that include, “Low Rider,” “Spill The Wine,” “Cisco Kid,” “The World Is A Ghetto,” “Slippin’ Into Darkness,” “I Wanna Take You Higher” and “Why Can’t We Be Friends?”

“The diversity of influences on us was not only musical but social as well,” said founding member Lonnie Jordan. “As a result, we tried to be entertaining while also spreading the word of peace, harmony and brotherhood.”

Tickets go on sale to MACC members on Saturday, February 5 at 10 am. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Saturday, February 12.

Ticket prices are: $45, $65, $85, with a limited number of $125 premium seats and table seating available.
