A storm system that dropped showers over Kauai and Oahu last night is expected to move over Maui and the Big Island today.

The National Weather Service issued a Flash Flood Watch for the entire county of Maui through late tonight.  The moist and unstable weather is associated with an upper level trough that is expected to spread east to Maui and the Big Island over the course of the day.

The system will bring the possibility of heavy rain and a slight chance of thunderstorms.

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding.

Motorists are reminded that rainfall and runoff can cause hazardous driving conditions due to ponding, reduced visibility and poor braking action.  Motorists and pedestrians should not cross fast flowing or rising water in their vehicles or on foot.
